Shelton State Community College Students Receive Alabama Dream It Do It Scholarship
August 7, 2024 – Shelton State Community College (SSCC) Machine Tool Technology/Computer Numerical Control students recently received scholarships from the Alabama Automotive Manufacturers Association (AAMA). Through the “Alabama Dream It DO IT Scholarship” program, each student was awarded a $4,000.00 scholarship.
The “Alabama Dream It DO IT Scholarship” was created through a partnership between the AAMA and the Alabama Community College System (ACCS). Designed to assist Alabamians pursuing a technical education certificate or associate degree in preparation for a career related to the automotive manufacturing industry, the scholarship can be used toward tuition, fees, and books.

“Our Machine Tool Technology & Computer Numerical Control students enjoy excellent employment opportunities,” said Brian Cunningham, the College’s Machine Tool Technology instructor. “This program offers the skills employers seek in excellent-paying jobs in manufacturing. We are fortunate to have scholarship opportunities for qualifying students where they can get tuition, fees, and other associated costs paid.”
“Our program graduates can go to work immediately after graduation in highly desirable positions,” Cunningham continued. “I have worked in machining and tool & die for the past 42 years and have never seen better opportunities for skilled trades.”
