Crosslin Named Shelton State Athletic Director

January 23, 2018 – Shelton State Community College has named Cara Crosslin as the Buccaneer’s newest Athletic Director.

Originally from Tuscumbia, Alabama, Crosslin previously served as the College’s Athletic Support Specialist. Currently in her second year with the BUCS, she is a former coach and athletic director at Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, and played basketball at the University of Alabama from 1993 until 1997.

Certified as a master athletic administrator through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, Crosslin brings a wealth of experience to Shelton State Athletics. She acknowledges the leadership of President Bill Ashley and Dean of Students Amanda Harbison and their desire to continually improve the program.

“I am very grateful for this opportunity,” says Crosslin. “I am honored and blessed to be named to this position, and I look forward to continuing to work with our outstanding and dedicated coaches and student athletes. My ultimate goal is for our athletic programs to remain at the highest level.”

Shelton State Community College is a member of the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) and competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) at the Division I level. Varsity teams include baseball, men’s and women’s basketball and fast-pitch softball. The Shelton State Community College Athletics Department has spent the past decade establishing a winning tradition and bringing home championship trophies. Since 2000, our teams have won 24 NJCAA Region XXII Division I titles in men’s and women’s basketball and baseball, eleven National Championships in competitive cheerleading, and five recognitions as an Academic Team of the Year for softball.
