What is the C.A.R.E. Team?
The C.A.R.E. Team helps students find solutions when they are experiencing academic, social, and emotional crises.
Mission Statement
The Shelton State Community College C.A.R.E. Program (Communicate, Assess, Refer, and Educate) is committed to helping maintain individual and College community safety and well-being through proactive and collaborative prevention, assessment, and intervention. The C.A.R.E. Team connects students who are experiencing unusual stress or challenges with a variety of resources internally and externally to address their concerns.
Purpose
The Shelton State C.A.R.E. Program is part of an early warning and intervention system that allows the College to proactively provide resources to at-risk individuals. Whether submissions are made online or in person, all requests and referrals for assistance are confidential.
While the Shelton State C.A.R.E. Team leads this effort, it is important to note that the College community shares this responsibility. All are encouraged to provide support and assistance by submitting requests to the Shelton State C.A.R.E. Team.
Why Refer?
The C.A.R.E. team can provide resources and individualized help to students who are experiencing difficulties. This includes both internal and external resources.
How Does the C.A.R.E. Team find out about students of concern?
The C.A.R.E. Team receives referrals from a variety of sources. Faculty, staff, peers, and parents can submit their concerns for a student online, by email, or by phone. The C.A.R.E. Team encourages everyone to “say something if they see something” that concerns them.
