A chapter of Psi Beta, the national honor society for psychology students at community colleges, was recently chartered at Shelton State Community College. Psi Beta is a national honor society for community college students interested in psychology and the application of psychology to real lives. It is recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. Psi Beta participates with the American Psychological Association, the American Psychological Society and actively contributes to regional psychology conventions.
Acceptance into Psi Beta provides students with opportunities to explore psychology and experience its role in the everyday lives of their community. Additionally, membership in the society creates opportunities for interaction with students, faculty and other professionals outside the classroom, direct exposure to the practice of psychology in a variety of settings, acquiring leadership skills and experience, and participation in community service projects benefiting our local community. For more specific information, students can contact Kevin Burns, chapter faculty advisor, 205.391.3934, or firstname.lastname@example.org or log on http://psibeta.org/site/ .
