Admission of First-Time Freshman Students
FIRST-TIME FRESHMAN – REFER TO THE COLLEGE CALENDAR FOR APPLICATION DEADLINES EACH TERM.
Any applicant who has not previously attended a postsecondary institution will be designated a first-time college student.
1.Shelton State APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION submitted online
3.One primary form of identification (unexpired government issued photo ID) presented in person or a legible copy submitted by mail or email
4.Official high school or GED transcript documenting graduation date
5.Appropriate placement scores – ACT (20 or higher in English, reading, and math) or COMPASS
6.Official college transcript if attended as a dual enrollment student prior to graduating high school
Students with incomplete files will not be able to obtain official transcripts from the College nor will they be eligible to receive any type of financial aid assistance.
APPLICATION PROCESS FOR FIRST-TIME FRESHMAN
The first step for first time Shelton State students is to submit an application for admission and provide all required documents. Applications will not be processed until all parts are received. You can check the status of your application by clicking on the Apply for Admission link
on the myShelton sign in page. You will use the Login ID and PIN you created at the time of application.
Please read prior to submitting an application for admission.
1.Apply for Admission
2.Create a unique Login ID and PIN. Write it down!
3.Complete all applicable information fields.
4.Print the confirmation page or record the information for your records. (The S number will not be valid until you have completed all components of the application and have been accepted to the College.)
5.Print the Signature/Residency Page and submit it to Enrollment Services. Signature pages may be submitted in person, by mail or faxed to 205-391-3910.
6.Present your Photo ID. Applicants may submit the ID in person to Enrollment Services or mail/email a legible copy.
7.Students with qualifying ACT/SAT scores must submit scores to Enrollment Services. Otherwise, students must schedule a Compass Assessment with the Assessment Center, 205.391.2232.
8.Applications will not be processed until all four parts are received.
