Thank you for visiting the Shelton State Community College Allied Health Programs! We are extremely pleased that you are considering one of the Allied Health Programs as an option for your educational process.  Health careers are in demand all over the country, including West Alabama.

Healthcare jobs are expected to grow faster than any other industry—roughly 19%, or 2.3 million new jobs, by 2024 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupation Outlook Handbook. 

Shelton State has helped to provide a competent health workforce for more than sixty years. We hope the information provided about the health programs—Associate Degree Nursing, Practical Nursing, Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide, Health Information Technology, and Respiratory Therapy—will be helpful to you.

The health programs’ faculty and staff here at Shelton State Community College are committed to responding to the health needs of West Alabama. We offer comprehensive curricula for the education of the Allied Health Programs’ students. The goal of the Allied Health faculty is to support and guide students in the development of knowledge, attributes, and skills in order to prepare them to become competent, contributing members of the healthcare team.
